Cycling-Infom sponsored Jules Pennell on his Oxfam 100 challange. His team named "A whole lot of trouble" completed the course in 35 Hrs and 15 mins.

Here is his race report:

"Hi everybody,

Thank you one and all for your support of 'A Whole Lot of Trouble'.  I am truly overwhelmed by the magnitude of that support whether it was time, donations, publicity or encouragement.

Our starting time was 10:00am on Friday and we finished 35 hrs 15 mins later.  We sped along on adrenalien on Friday and were over 1.5 hours ahead of our schedule at one point near the end of the day.  We arrived at our overnight rest stop at 11:45pm (cf. planned time 1:00am) and elected to use the gain in extra sleep (= 5 hours).  However, Friday's speed couldn't be maintained on Saturday so we missed our target of 34 hours.  It is a team event and I'm pleased to say we crossed the line together, hand in hand at 9:15pm on Saturday.

Along the way we saw some amazing things - like a young woman struggling along in thongs because she couldn't get her runners on her feet which were covered in bandages; like a man attacking a large blister on his foot with a pen knife while his team mates waited to continue; like people limping badly but still pushing on.

I'm pleased that we finished in fairly good condition - a few blisters between us, sore feet and a lot of aching muscles, a couple of scratches where the bush exacted its toll.  After a soak in a hot Radox bath and a good night's sleep, the rigours of the event were just receding memories.  It was a very worthwhile experience.  Would I do it again?  Ask me later.

Thank you all once again .......... Jules".
