Now they are developing some new exciting products that will revolutionise the way we think about measuring power on the bike and using home trainers with two new products that they are trialing at the moment.
The first of which is a power sensing pedal. Details are sketchy but it involves a new clipless design and the ability to measure power directly at your left and right foot. It’s currently being trailed and developed closely with the US road athlete development team. You can put these pedals on a bike and set it up on a trainer to measure your riding position or bike components efficiency. An example of this is to set it up and Ride at 100 watts noting your speed and heart rate. Changing your bike position and components will change your power output and by fine tunning this you can optimise them both. Kurt Kinetic are already seeing big shifts in output from minor changes in components and cycling rider position.
The second item they are producing is a trainer that you can plug into your wall. It has a “black box” that will convert your exercise session into electricity that will power your house. Kurt Kinetic are very impressed with the efficiency of these trainers. So much so that 25 trainers in a gym run on this system using a regular cycle class schedule will considerably reduce the gym’s power consumption.
Stay tune for new updates.
