stage 1 72km day 1:
After making it over zig-zag hill with the front group, I punctured about 20km from the finish. I waited for a spare, and then absolutely hammered it
in an attempt to minimize the damage. This was probably a mistake as I was completely cooked for the stage 2 crit. Lost 5 minutes, GC is now history.
Stage 2 36km day 1:
After cooking myself as a result of my stage 1 puncture, I road the crit and finished with the group. Lost no time, but gained none of the time bonuses
either.
Stage 3 92km day 2:
Spent a half hour watching feeble attacks go up the road only to get sucked back in. Then, about 20km into the race we came into a strong cross wind that came from right to left on a flat section. Excellent. I road the next few minutes on the front Head down in the left-hand Gutter. A guy finally came around me which gave me the chance to I look back at the devastation. 200 meters back it was like a bomb went off. There are now only 4 of us. We rolled turns for 10 minutes before being joined by 5 others. Now the pace really picked up. The yellow jersey has not made the break and I am with 3 guys in the GC who have every reason to Work hard. The break gained over 5 minutes.
In the end I finished 10th in the GC after the puncture, so not a bad result.
