Periodization
Periodization is a training system that was developed by Russian physiologist Leo Metveyev and Czech sport scientist Tudor Bompa who are recognised worldwide as the foremost experts on periodization training. They developed the concept of periodization of strength in Romania in 1963, and have helped the eastern bloc countries rise to dominance in the athletics world. Since then, periodization training has become a standard method for conditioning athletes at all levels of sport.
