2011 Australian Masters Cycling Championships Criterum Results

Another great day in Ballarat greeted us for the 2011 Australian Masters Cycling Championships Criterum race. With no wind there was a high chance of a bunch finish. It was to be the case today with nearly all of the grades playing into the hands of the sprinters. With a long straight leading up to the finish there was the possible good fortune to be had for anyone bold enough to go long. Many of the finishes had the sprint start well before the 300m mark.

The Cycling-Inform woman placed well today too. Philippa Read took out Gold in the WMAS6, Heather Hamling took out Gold and Sue Tierney took out the Silver in the WMAS5 while Jodie Batchelor took out Silver in the WMAS3. Lisa Hanley (pictured above) finished well in WMAS2 after being off the bike for several years as did Jennifer Sammons who specialises in time trials.

The sprinters proved too fast for MMAS4 Andrew Weightman and MMAS6 Graham Tierney.
