2011 Australian Masters Games Road Race results

The road race was run on the same course as the time trial the day before. I would consider it to be an honest road course suiting the general road cyclists. While the hill wasn’t particularly long the finish was at the top of it. This gave the cyclists many options as to how to finish the race based on their personal strengths.

Sue Brown picked up silver in the WMAS5. Jodie Batchelor (pictured) picked up gold in the WMAS3 after breaking away with newbie Sam Boag who got silver. Fran Medina got the bronze after soloing it when the break went and managed to hold off the rest of the field. The hill proved just too strong for Lynne McGregor in WMAS7 and she just missed out on the medals with fourth place. Dana Harris had a mechanical and DNF’ed in WMAS4.  After being dropped early on in the race MMAS4 Damian Hallaran rode through the field to finish thirteenth.  MMAS5 John Taylor finished in twelfth place in his race.
