C Grade race on Sunday the 10th February 2008 at Glenvale Crescent.

This race was pretty standard also, although this time (for the first time) I raced with more of a strategy in mind.  I made the conscious decision to play the odds which is that C grade nearly always finished with a bunch sprint, and not to bother chasing down any breaks other than what the bunch chases, then to start to move up nearer the front at the 50 minute mark, just before the final 3 lap board comes up, so by the time 1 lap to go is up, I am not only in the drops, but am 5-8 places from the front and don’t need to do any crazy overtaking to move up to a position where I am a possibility for the sprint finish.  Although the plan wasn’t exactly perfectly executed, it seemed to be a good one… I finished the sprint in about 8th because there were a lot of riders I started the sprint on the inside quite early to get out of the mess, I think it paid off a little because there seemed to be a lot of confusion in the main group.  Next race I think I will try the same tactic and see if I can do it better and if it pays off.
