There was no racing on this Sunday at Glenvale due to the long weekend. So I went to StKilda to race at the Sth Melbourne crit. I was in a rush to get to the start line after getting lost on the way to the circuit so again no HRM… I found this circuit the worst I’ve ever ridden. Broken asphalt everywhere and cement dust and stones around the bottom and sharpest turn of the circuit! I rode averagely in D grade and finished mid field because I wasn’t willing to push it around the bottom corner which led onto the main straight for the sprint, so used a lot of energy cornering conservatively around there and having to push hard to catch after the corner. After that race I rode in C Grade – bad idea. Early in the race, someone pushed too hard into the gravely corner and started to slide, he stayed upright and got out ok, but the guy behind him (the guy in front of me) ripped on his brakes and went down straight away… I managed to rub off most of my speed but still hit him and came off myself – only a bit of skin off my knee and hand as well as cosmetic damage to my bike. Had to retire because of bleeding on my leg. Crap…
