C Grade Glenvale Cresent Crit - Sunday 3rd Feb 2008

Sunday’s race (just gone) – first decent race in a long time. Still I rode
nervously because of all the recent crashed etc, stayed mid bunch for the
majority of the race and came 10
th in the end. I guess the cliché
“if you sit safely back in the bunch, that’s where you’ll finish” was most
appropriate to describe my race on Sunday. I’m looking forward to getting
better in C grade, it’s certainly more of a challenge but at least I managed top
10 in my first decent ride
with them.
I found
the biggest energy saver in races is to look up more! I was looking more at the
guys in front and around me, but if I look towards the front of the bunch I find
my lines are smoother, my changes in speed are smother and I can predict more
easily changes in pace… Will work on this more for future. I was happy I got
promoted, C grade rides a lot cleaner and faster, but I was disappointed that
they wouldn’t keep me down for at least 1 win… I will work on getting a win in
C grade, should get at least a place before the season is out, and come back
stronger in the next season if I keep my training up over winter.
Thanks
David for helping me get promoted to C grade
