I WON!!!!  I finally won C grade, my first win ever… I was so happy.  Because there was a strong headwind down the main straight I played the odds that the race would finish in a bunch sprint… A solo break away that lasted until 2 laps to go made me very nervous but when he came back to the bunch I was pretty pleased.

 I made up a lot of places with a quick climb up the back straight and a couple more places on the little straight bit before the final 2 corners…  I sprinted really early because in heaps of the other races I had done I was always carrying more speed than the riders in front of me and felt if the line was further away I would have got it…  this time the line was still the same distance, I just started earlier, a lot earlier… and according to the report I finished 3 bike lengths clear of the guy who came second!

At the moment I am 4th in the Summer Series Leaderboard and with the promotion to B grade and the 10 points for the win I should be 3rd on the next leaderboard update!

I never thought I’d win a race and at least now I know that the key to getting up there is to sprint a lot earlier than I had anticipated…
