C Grade race on Tuesday the 5th February 2008 at Sandown Raceway

Sandown races are a bit hard for me to get to at 6.30pm… I am always in a bit of a rush, but this time the sign up desk was so full I missed the first lap (along with a bunch of others) and got on the bunch late.  I always feel guilty for not riding as far as the other riders, so when there was an early break away, I led off the front to help the bunch bridge the gap to the breakaway… sometimes I think I do it so I feel as tired as someone who’s done the extra lap and subconsciously I feel as if I hadn’t cheated but in hindsight, the break would have been unsuccessful anyway so really I think I’d just expended a lot of energy for nothing.  The rest of the race was fairly normal C grade stuff – I remember someone saying one time, if you throw a stick down the road, C grade will chase it… J  Final lap was going ok – but there was a small break that formed at the front on the final lap and I bridged that into the headwind on the little straight after the 3rd last corner or so and was pretty spent for the final sprint so came in maybe 20th or something…
