Harry Hanley places 4th in B grade CCCC Crit Championships
A five rider break in B Grade saw Ashley Duncan, George Greenall, Tim Calkins, David Ross and Eric Sheppard 20 seconds clear, but the pace saw first Greenall and then Calkins drop off the pace and the bunch close the gap. Russell Nelson tried to get a late break off the ground without success, and a bunch sprint looked likely over the final laps. Stefan Kirsch (Doherty's Sheet Metal) had the strength to make things easy for the finish line judges however, with a powerful surge through the final corners to take the win, chased home by Seb Guiney and Neville Martin. Kirsch suffered a broken femur after a race fall early this summer, so his win was particularly impressive. The bunch was hot on their heels, with the final prizes taken by Julian Bain (Mascot Cycles) and Harry Hanley. Race report written by Mal Sawford - President Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club.
