What it takes to win at CCCC Glenvale A grade
18May2012
Here is some data from a recent A grade Carnegie Caulfield’s Glenvale criterium race where the whole field was lapped in 51 mins.
I’m fortunate to gain access to some special HR data. Here is some data from an elite rider taken from Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club's Glenvale A Grade Criterium Race.

Here is an example of A grade for one of the place getters of the recent Carnegie Caulfield’s A grade Glenvale Criterium Race.
All I want to say is this... If you are not training yourself to ride in your VO2 HR Zone for a hour at an average of 47 km/h then you'll never get into the break and last. Notice the HR go up at the end. That was when the breakaway group started attacking each other. The slight dip in HR data at the 51 min mark is when the break caught the main bunch. Yep, race over for the rest of the field.
