The warriors are back from doing battle at The Canberra Tour
I got this from Norbert. Norbert has purchased several products from us and I've had a few conversations with him regarding his training. Well done Norbert!
Norbert wrote me a e-mail soon after stating this...
"Your 'Cycle-Inform' (website) has become my bible and it is for this reason that I have been able to achieve this result".
Thanks for your compliment Norbert! Remember, you did all the hard training!
Norbert won D2 grade convincingly and Ryan O’Neil missed second in C grade by one second, both significant achievements when you consider the parcours and level of competition.
There was a total entry of 450 riders and nearly everyone who is anyone was there. (note the deference to yourself and Danny, Mike).
New member Alan Robinson (M7, riding D2) rode very well and was going for a top 10 finish when he punctured five km from home on the last stage. Disappointing for him but he was very happy with his form.
I have the new nickname of YOYO after being dropped on every significant climb but managing to get back to the group six times during the three races only to be dropped again each time on the final climb of the day. Finished about 8 mins down on Norbert for the tour.
Ryan’s ride was very credible as C grade in the Canberra Tour is very tough. Australian legend Kevin Nichols optimistically rode C grade and came in about 15 minutes down for the tour. I think he was surprised at the level and that he finished so far down.
Norbert came seventh in the bunch sprint in stage one, same time as the winner, and got a 2nd and 3rd in the two KOMs. He smashed them all in the second stage soloing in for the win 22 seconds ahead of second place with 2x 2nd and a 3rd in the KOMs. In the third race he had them all by the balls and everyone treated him as though he was Bernard Hinault; all he had to do was cover any moves and finish with bunch time to win. He got a1st , 2x2nd and a third in the KOMs and no one had the guts to attack him during the race because he’d already demonstrated that he was stronger on the hills and stronger on the flat than anyone else.
