Southern Vets Masters Woman take Silver at TTT Club Champs
The Club State Team Time Trial Championships were held in Miners Rest and hosted by Ballarat/Sebastopol Cycling Club. This year is the first year Southern Vets have competed and they entered a Masters Women’s team consisting of Jodie Batchelor, Amanda Howard-Anderson, Manuela Marasco and Kylie Thompson. David Heatley (Cycling-Inform) was the Team Coach and Team Manager. The team were supported by the SVCC with the provision of uniforms and entry.
David provided a training program for each of the girls as a build up to the event and ran training sessions on Beach Rd early on a Tuesday morning, which were also supported by Dana.
On the day of the event the team was given a briefing by David on the race schedule and start order. Then he guided them through a proper warm up on the trainers to ensure that they were ready for the start at their allocated time. Once the team started they got into formation early and rolled turns as planned.
Although the team had limited training they worked really well together and obtained 2nd in the Masters Women. This was an outstanding outcome only being beaten by the very experienced Hawthorn Masters Women’s team who rode a fantastic time.
