Heather - post her road race win.

There was a fair bit of racing from the Cycling-Inform riders over Easter and some fantastic results.

In Maryborough at the South Pacific Championships hosted by the Victorian Veterans Cycling Council there were 5 Cycling-Inform riders competing. On the Friday was the road race and across the riders there were 3 first and a fourth. All the winners were able to break away from their groups and cross the finish line solo - Jodie Batchelor  40-44 age group, Heather Hamling 50-54 age group, Andrew Weightman 45-49 age group which was a fantastic ride over a very strong and experienced men’s field. Chris Carr in the men’s 50-44 was 4th in the road race with Laurie Paltridge in the same group finishing in the main bunch.

On Saturday morning Jodie Batchelor and Fran Medina both contested the 300 meter sprint and with both of them being in the same age group 40-44yrs it was stable mate against stable mate. Fran qualified the fastest with Jodie a close second. In the gold medal ride off Jodie got the better start and held on for the win. Overall Jodie and Fran in the ladies were second and third fastest across all of the women’s age groups.

On the Saturday afternoon was the ITT with just Jodie and Andrew contesting. Andrew set a blistering time and was the only rider to ride under 20 minutes which gave him the gold. Jodie was able to also take another win in her age group.

On Sunday was the criterium which is the final event in the South Pacific Championships. Jodie and Fran again contested the same age group with Jodie getting in an early break and managing to stay away to take the win. Fran did a fantastic sprint in the bunch and was took another silver. Andrew was a marked man after his performance in the road race and ITT, with a break early in the race everyone was looking at Andrew to bring it back. He managed to break from the field late and although he was gaining, time ran out and he managed about 6th place.
