Cycling-Inform at the 2012 Women's Grand Prix - Series Two

A hot day greeted the woman for round two of the Women’s Grand Prix series. This event was run by CCCC at the purpose built criterium course in Casey Fields. Doug Armstrong was the official commissaire for the day. With Rob Carson the race director and Pete Davidson chief timing and scoring.
It was great to see many past and present Cycling-Inform coached rides out racing. With the competition heating up and a class field the task of getting into division one was tougher than ever.
Riders are seeded based on their prologue time (a quick lap around the course).
Liz Hall (HCC Gold), a regular to our Bright Boot Camps, took out fastest overall time for the day to second place Joanne Hogan (Total Rush) and Katherine O’Shea (Torq/Bicycle Superstore). Clare Dallat (Torq/Bicycle Superstore), another Cycling-Inform coached rider and on her comeback for this year posted a respectable 9th place. It was also great to see Manuela Maresco (HCC Gold), soon to be back on our coaching program, out riding for Hawthorn Cycling Club at her first race for the season. She secured the last position in division one with the 22nd placing.
Jodie Batchelor (SKCC/Giant Woman’s Blue team) was the first to miss out being her first race back after crashing out of the last series race at Melton. She placed 23rd. Lisa Hanley on her comeback this year (Cycling-Inform) also missed Div 1 placing 29th. She was the only Cycling-Inform Team rider to be able to make it out for the this round. To round it all off Cycling-Inform coached rider Marlena Klaic (SKCC Red Team) took 33rd place.

Quoting the race report from Cykel’s website covering off division 2 "..Intermediate Sprint ticked over at 27 minutes and saw most riders posting their fastest lap of the day, with 16 year old Nina Greig-Towers (CykelRED) crossing the line for the maximum five points. In doing so, Greig-Towers prevented Jodie Batchelor (3 points) claiming those important points that SKCC/Giant need to pull away from the field at the top of the teams leaderboard. Lisa Hanley (Cycling-Inform) took 2 points, while Monique Hanley claimed the last of the handouts….
The peleoton entered the final corner all together, as some of the names that had spent much of the day hiding came to the front. It was however Emma Pane (Team Brunswick, 35 pts) who took the sprint, followed by Shantelle Maurer (BCS Building Champions, 34 pts). Teagan-jane Westendorff (Hawthorn CC GOLD, 33 pts) placed 3rd, to match her third place during round 1, while Nina-Greig Towers (Cykel RED, 32 pts) once again forced Batchelor out of the prizes to take the voucher to The Sufferfest's "Hell Hath No Fury".
