Falling of your bike, ouch!! One day this might happen to you.

It could happen while descending down a hill, riding in a bunch ride, racing, etc. All it takes is a split second and you are on the ground. When this happened to me I had to go to hospital as I required some stiches and a cast for my broken figure, I was advised by the doctor to get the bandages changed every 2-3 days. So when I visited the local GP to check my wounds the non stick dressing was stuck nicely to my skin as the wound had weeped. It took about 20 minutes of soaking in water for it to come off without ripping any new skin (ouch).
The following day I had to see a plastic surgeon to fix my broken little finger (5 screws later, all is good). He asked if he could take look at my grazed leg to see how it was healing. Upon inspection he was shocked how it was been treated. When you fall and slide on the ground you are actually burning and ripping the skin off. The wound I had should have been treated like a burn. So here is how they treated my wound.
Clean the wound with anti-bacterial saline solution to remove any dirt and dead skin.

The nurse applied a liberal amount of Silvazine cream

Next it is time to apply Jelonet gauze. What this stuff does is help the wound to drain freely into an absorbent secondary dressing.
Apply some gauze dressing for it to absorb any weeping.

Now it is time to bandage it all up.
Please note that I am not a doctor. This is how they treated my leg.
