Not so Good Friday...or...A sign
We did enjoy a nice ride on Good Friday, well most of it anyway, but as we neared the completion of the ride I had a small but nasty misadventure which caused me some pain and suffering for the next few weeks. On a usually wet (but this time dry) leafy corner that I had negotiated many times, the front wheel of my bike lost traction and down I came hard on my right side. When the leaves were wet, I had always taken great care to not lean much while crossing them, but this time they were dry, and I apparently didn't apply enough concentration to the job at hand. Other factors which might have also played a part were, the new bike which has slightly different geometry and puts me in a different riding position, and the Bontrager Race X Lite tyres instead of the Conti GP4000S I usually run.

Anyway, as a result of the crash, I damaged (again) my A/C joint in my right shoulder (there goes my modelling career) and took skin off various parts of my right forearm and right leg...I rode home (of course) and had a good lie down, and due to bruising, raw patches and damaged dislocated shoulder, didn't ride for two weeks. New skin has now replaced the red oozy bits on my arm, and although my shoulder now has an even more pronounced bump on it, I am riding without pain and only notice some discomfort when I roll onto that side during the night.
But, the real reason for this story is to tell you about my amusement when riding through the scene of the accident today...
When I was making my first journey over that particular road in an effort to exorcise my crash demons, I encountered a most amusing sight...some very community minded person had taken great trouble to warn others of the known 'black spot'...it certainly put a smile on my face for the rest of the ride home...I was laughing so much I almost forgot to be careful while negotiating the aforementioned danger zone...some people have a great sense of humour...
