Matt Bennett - C grade win.

Matt Bennett takes 1st in C grade at Sandown in a solo sprint. This is a fantastic result for Matt after fighting a serious illness, and as always was at the race supported by his dad David, this is a team result for them. Here is his race report - winning in true fashion with an epic solo breakaway. Look forward to seeing you race in B grade soon.

The race wasn’t especially tough, but on the last lap we were going at a decent pace.

I was sitting about 8th wheel on the back straight but after a lot of surges and shuffling around I ended up back to 20th wheel.

As we came out of the downhill corner I wasn’t in a good position at all, so I thought may as well have a crack and I attacked with about 500 meters to go.

I ended up holding the sprinters off for the win by about 20 meters, I was pretty happy because I have been getting 3rds and fourth’s but no real result.

Looking at the Garmin file of the race I hit 60 km/s an hour when I attacked which I was happy with as well.
I didn’t get moved up to B grade but I’m hoping to do well on the weekend.
