Ay Up release the Ay Pod

I'm a big fan of the Ay Up lighting system. I got an e-mail from them today introducing their new Ay Pod, amongst other things. I don't get any kick backs from this. I love their lights and have been using them for three winters now. Be safe when riding at night. Always use a bright front light. Here is their write up...
Ay Pod
New for April 2010 ... after many months in the planning we finally have our very own unique case. Adaptly(aptly) named the AY POD this injection moulded custom case was (is) designed (in house) by Ay Up Lighting Systems Australia and produced in Australia. Keeping to our unique light- and product designs, we have simplified the overall packaging whilst cleverly managing various aspects of our system.( cable management being just one of them.) The material choice for the AY POD is Polypropylene which is crush proof, scratchproof, light weight, 100% recyclable and looks and feels the part too!
The AY POD will fit a complete V4, V Twin, 08 Multisport or 08 MTB. V8 Explorer kits will be shipped in two AY PODs

How it works
The case is locked by a central locking wheel. I denotes locked and O denotes unlocked. Locking wheel operates clockwise to lock and anti-clockwise to unlock. The lock is held in the lid by a locking groove. To remove and clean see below.

The AY POD can only be assembled one way. If you can read the text on the lid, tray and base it will go together. Once locked with tray in place you can shake it, place upside down and the parts will stay put. Check out the slideshow below for repacking the AY POD.
The Gecko mounts can be fitted to the tray with Velcro pads attached. Also there is no need to remove the light or battery from the Gecko mounts they will fit back in the AY POD assembled. If your order requires an extra battery or light we will fit the battery / light to the Gecko mounts. Note your instructions, Gecko Velcro packs and wrist band are fitted to the underside of the lid. The headband kit comes un-assembled from new but once assembled it will go back in its chamber.

Battery can be left in the Gecko Mount as well as the handlebar rubber mounting band

Light can be left in the Gecko mount
Charging - There is no need to remove the charger and batteries from the AY POD when charging.
Do not attempt to close the lid whilst charging. You must have a good air flow / ventilation at all times.

Cleaning
To remove the lock from the lid, flip the lid over and align the underside lock groove with the peg on the lid and push out. If the lock feels stiff after a dirty weekend in the bush simply remove the lock and wash the grit away with warm soapy water. A smear of Vaseline or silicone grease on the O ring will allow smooth rotation.
The AY POD is made from the same material as a Tupperware product so use the same cleaning method. Warm soapy water is the best.
AY POD Tech Specs
Lid, Base and tray is manufactured from UV resistant, 100% recyclable Polypropylene.
Locking wheel is manufactured from UV resistant, 100% recyclable Acetal.
Water ingress seal - Axial rubber O ring located on the lock shaft.

Ay Up Lighting Systems injection moulded parts are produced in Brisbane by a local manufacturer. Because of this we can sell the AY POD case for half the price of the Chinese ABS case. Plus it is proudly manufactured in Australia and saving Aussie jobs. All Ay Up systems are assembled and packed in Australia so to make it easier for our packers each part has its place in the new AY POD.

Introducing the AY POD ...

The rear, silicone feet prevent slippage ...

The lid holds the Velcro pack for the Gecko's, instructions and Velcro straps for the Gecko and headband kits

The tray holds two lights, all mounts, saxon caps, rubbers and the Gecko's can be returned to their positions with velcro pads, battery and light fitted if required

The base holds a complete V4 Adventure kit. Cable management and compartments mean everything has a place. A fully assembled headband fits back in its chamber too. Note - battery and light would need to be removed first.

The central lock can be removed by aligning the groove on the lock with the tab on the lid then push out.

Note the location tab on the lid

The lock is the only part that can be dis-assembled. A smear of vaseline or silicone grease on the O ring once in a blue moon allows for easy and smooth rotation. The O ring will never wear out.

Australian Made!
